The position and responsibilities

As a Commissioning Engineer at IX Renewables, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of offshore wind farms. You will be responsible for overseeing the commissioning process, including testing and integration of various systems and components, to bring the wind farm to operational status.

Other tasks:

  • System Integration: Coordinate, comment and oversee the plans from the installation contractors (SFE, Vestas, LS Cables and Star Energy) for integration of offshore wind farm components, including turbines, substation equipment, control systems, and electrical infrastructure.

  • Commissioning Planning: Review and coordinate the by the installation contractors developed detailed commissioning plans and schedules, ensuring alignment with project timelines and quality standards.

  • Testing and Troubleshooting: Witness performance testing of equipment and systems that are meant to to identify and resolve any issues or defects. Assist with coordination between contractors in case of technical interface issues.

  • Safety Compliance: Maintain and ensure a strong focus on safety throughout the commissioning process, preparation and execution. Ensure that all activities adhere to safety regulations and common industry practices.

  • Documentation: Review and comment comprehensive commissioning documentation on compliance with the contract, including test reports, equipment manuals, snagging list and as-built drawings.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, design engineers, and subcontractors, to ensure a smooth commissioning process.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the Implementation of quality control measures to guarantee that all components and systems meet design specifications and industry standards.

  • Performance Optimization: Identify opportunities for optimizing the performance of wind farm systems and components.

  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data from various tests and inspections to assess the overall performance and reliability of the wind farm.

  • Training: Provide training and support to operational teams for a seamless transition from commissioning to operational phases.

  • Accepting commissioning: Represent the Employer and sign certificates of completion. 

Required qualifications

  • Min. bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Previous experience in commissioning of complex industrial facilities, preferably in the renewable energy, offshore wind or oil&gas industry.

  • Strong knowledge of HV-electrical systems, control systems (SCADA), and wind turbine technology.

  • Familiarity with safety regulations and standards in the offshore wind industry.

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Willingness to work offshore and travel as required.

  • Working level proficiency in English.

  • Preferred: capability to communicate in traditional Chinese/Mandarin.
